On Stephanie's blog dated July 28, you will find a post about Emmuska and Liberty enjoying a clubhouse in their backyard. This reminded me of a clubhouse that I built out of PVC pipe with a little help from Auntie Doris, for Mycal (age 3.5 years) and Elizabeth (2 years) while we were living in Texas.
Auntie Doris (on the right) had come to help before and after Jennifer's birth. This was ONE of the projects she whipped up on her sewing machine during her visit.
Clubhouse Christening! Here is Mycal looking the part for such a solemn occasion.
The clubhouse served its purpose until we moved back to AZ. However, it was definitely lacking in creative eye appeal compared to the more sophisticated modern version created by Stephanie, 27 years later.

Maybe lacking a little in creative colors- but it looks like it might hold just a little bit better :D
I can't tell you enough how much I love that you found and put these pictures up. They are amazing! I'm so excited that moments like these are saved somewhere.
My clubhouse needed to be roomy as there were so many creatures that wanted access. ;) I'm just blessed to have enough blankets to accomodate.
In response to some of the comments you left on my blog...
1)Olfactal learning falls under tactile - I'm a tactile learner with olfactal being my strength. I've only seen that written once in one book on the difference between the three. I've yet to meet another strong olfactal learner but know that is what I am. I'm not sure if olfactal can be it's own learning group because it's hard to do everything olfactally or because there are so few people who learn this way that it hasn't really been studied...that post helped me really understand some aspects of myself and I'm wondering if I embrace my olfactal skills how that would help me learn...interesting to consider.
2)I can't wait to try this salad though I'm wondering if it might not happen until I get out there - at which point I will be letting you know which day we need to do this together. It looks incredible. Now that I think about it thought it looks very cool and that would be perfect for right now...
3)I absolutely loved your post on clubhouses and am so happy that I could inspire that memory saving moment. I like your idea for a clubhouse and might enlist you next time you are around to help me figure out something that I can do similiar to that for the girls.
4)You are an incredible mother and one of the examples that I value daily. I recieved a valueable lesson lately on motherhood reminding me that nobody can be the mother each child needs like their own. I know that God put each of the children you've raised in your care for a reason and because of that you are the person best qualified to understand and raise each one of them. I have no doubts that the way you raised each one of your children was more what they needed than anybody else could provide. And while they or others even might not realize it I strongly feel it's the truth. I thank you for the job you have done as I'm the happy recipient of one of the masterpieces that you helped create.
5)I thought the wolf and pig thing was too funny too and I'll tell you the decorating possibilites have been so much fun to consider. As far as favorite animals go it's a much deeper thing than just something we like - I'll have to share it with you someday though I'm sure that will be the breaking point at which you are convinced that I truly am crazy. (Sometimes it seems like a little bit of a competition between us ;) the 'who really is crazier' game) Animals close to my heart include porcupines, platypus, sloths, warthogs, hedgehogs, and a few other 'odd' creatures. For as long as I can remember I've had a soft spot in my heart for these animals.
I'm not really a dog person so much as specific dogs. For example I don't just get excited about dogs when I see them but absolutely love my Autumn dog as well as a family dog I grew up with. If a dog has the right personality I will warm up to it right away but if not I don't feel a need to get any closer. The idea of a cat always seems nice to me but I'm worried how different that would be from the reality and don't really want to test it.
6)I don't think you'll be waiting a year for that morsel as I plan on making it for you the next time either of us are visiting each other. (And I really don't want that to be more than a year.)
